An Intimate Setting for
a Fine Dining Experience
Having opened doors to our first guests in December, 1980, Golden Grill has come a long way and has faced many changes and challenges during its more than three decades’ long journey.
Golden Grill serves a largely Asian and European clientele, who are hooked to our scrumptious dishes made with the best of local ingredients.
A rich vegetation, centuries' long history of spice cultivation and an ocean filled with the best of sea food has added to the Sri Lankan cuisine through the years making it one of the richest in the region. Sri Lanka’s position as a trading port and its rich colonial history has enriched our culinary heritage, giving us dishes filled with exotic tastes and aroma.
Being in close proximity to Beruwala fishing harbour and fish market allows our chefs to choose the best out of the daily catches of tuna, mullet, prawns and lobsters while we enjoy an unlimited supply of the best spices and the freshest of seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Created through the fusion of Sri Lankan and continental culinary traditions, Golden Grill’s Sri Lankan and Indian dishes are celebrated across the world for their variety and taste and are complimented by our great customer service and a scenic environment.
Having first established as a Steakhaus that catered mostly to the German tourists, Golden Grill has changed its role and hands throughout the year. However, the demography of Sri Lanka’s travel market has changed the face, name and clientele of the Golden Grill to what it is today.
Secluded from the rush that surround urban life, Golden Grill stands by the side of Bentota lake within the boundaries of first National Holiday Resort in Bentota.
An initiative launched by the Sri Lankan Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) in 1969, the National Holiday Resort was designed by none other than the legendary Geoffrey Bawa, the architectural genius of Sri Lanka and is country’s first planned resort city, which combined aerial planning and sustainable township development.
Having gone through a series of owners, Golden Grill rests in the hands of the Proprietor, Dr. Ranjith Samarage and General Manager - Chef Roshan Fernando today and is a well sought-after fine-dining restaurant serving the best of country’s culinary experience to visitors from across the world.
Cradled between the Colombo-South railway track and Galle road, Golden Grill is ideally placed on the banks of a man-made pond and a few hundred meters away from the famed Bentota beach in National Holiday Resort.
Established in 1969 as a National Holiday Resort with additional resort facilities the architecture and the layout of the holiday resort was designed by Sri Lanka’s Architectural inspiration Geoffrey Bawa. He had pioneered the concept of planned resort city in Sri Lanka by immaculately positioning a series of resorts within the hundred acre large resort owned by Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
Bawa also designed a series of hotels ranging from 1 star to 5 star category including Lihiniya Surf Hotel, Serendib Hotel, Hotel Cey Sands, Bentota Beach Hotel and Club Robinson within the resort to provide a varying holiday experience to tourists from different walks of life.
